Description :
My poster is mainly about the importance of saving our polar ice caps. This poster is done to create awareness to the society about this current issue. I created this poster to tell those who are viewing this how slowly we are diminishing the ice caps. Also, to send a message to other people from other places to be more considerate about the people living at the north and south pole. Hence, we are to avoid using too much of electricity and reduce pollution so that our polar ice caps will continue to live on for centuries.

The slogan I have used is “Keep the ice Cool, Stop them from melting.” I chose this because it sends a positive message to viewers to always keep in mind that we still have an ice-land. Also, to make sure people are aware of it and avoid causing their meltdown. Hence, we should show some love to our Earth.

ok here are the steps taken in the making of my final poster which is assignment 3. it took me quite a few try outs to get the final one. and also, ive changed parts of my original sketch, so it doesnt look exactly like the original one. okay here goes! (:

step1.

first of all, i added a template which is my sketch into the illustrator file. i start everything with tracing the mountains using the pen tool. well i didnt copy it exactly but i changed it a little bit.

step2.

after tracing the mountains. i started tracing the other parts which are the icebergs. i also rearranged the pieces of ice. and i added and extra heart shape ice. the reason i did this is because we need to show some love to the environment. anyways,

step3.

i continued tracing the igloo and the sky using the pen tool.

step4.

after that i finished up the tracing with the people and a conversation bubble. i created everything using the pen tool. and i used the oval shape tool to draw the conversation bubble and wrote the text in it with my selected fonts.

step5.

once im done with the tracing, i start colouring the mountain using the gradient tool. i added some shades of blue to the gradient. i also colour the people using all black to represent the people living there which are actually eskimos. :D

step6.

after that, i copied my original design for the mountains from assignment 2 into this. i duplicated them but change its sizes accordingly. what happens to the mountain layer? i changed its transperancy to multiply and hence, result in what you see now. it blends pretty well with the other mountains. and then i duplicated the mountain layers and reflected it horizontally and lower its opacity. so that it looks more like a reflection. i also used envelop disort > reset warp > wave. this results in the wave like mountain reflection that you see.

step7.

after all that, i started colouring my ice bergs and igloo. and as usual, i used different shades of blue by the gradient tool for all of these.

step8.

here, i colour the sky with dark shades of blue using the gradient tool. i also change its transparency to multiply for the later effects once im done with the sky.

step9.

next, i colour the conversation bubble with blue colour. and change its transparency to hard light. after that i write my tagline/slogan which is "Keep the ice cool!stop them from melting." i used this font because it looks kind of exotic. i also change the colour of some parts of the wordings. besides that, i also applied outlines to the text. and i made the alphabet "O" more spiky/poky.

step10.

now, i start colouring the sky. i used the gradient tool for this. and used the shades of blue with orange. orange actually represents the hot weather caused by global warming that is effecting the polar ice caps. and why they are melting. i changed its transparency to multiply and to a lower opacity. this way it blends well with the mountains and clouds. (:

step11.

finally, i made another layer of sky with a lighter shade of the same sky colour. as usual, i changed its transparency to multiply and lower its opacity.

for our final assignment, i know we have to find a refrence poster. i have found some refrence posters that i find them to be very interesting and appealing. so i might follow parts of their arrangements. once again i would like to stress that my area of global warming is the melting of polar ice caps. here are some of the refrence posters ive found.

This is my final work using illustrator. trying to illustrate my idea the best i can. and just so everybody knows, this thing im drawing is actually an idea of a glacier or somewhat an ice cap. so yeah, i will lead you on how to make this! :D

step 1

The first thing i did was to trace back what i have sketched. first things first, i added a template so i could easily trace the image. i used the Pen Tool to do this. and i made a smaller size of the right side of the glacier.

step 2

Once im done tracing back the lines from my sketch, i duplicated the layers ive done just now and placed it at the back. i made it this way to illustrate a slight 3D effect but i dont know if it looks like it. LOL. also, i made a few small glaciers at the front part. i used the Pen Tool for all of this.

step 3

Next, i used different shades of blue to colour the glacier. i also used the gradient tool for the colouring. firstly, i coloured the first piece of the glacier and not the duplicated one.

step 4

Once im done with that, i coloured the duplicated layers with the same colours as the first. also, i have coloured the extra part in front of the glacier with light gradient blue. and i blend that layer to a transparency called Hard Light. i also used Envelope Distortion Wrap by bending its Arc Lower.

step 5

I duplicate the glacier layers and reflected it upside down so it gives a shadow kind of image. i made the opacity of it to half. and i also used Enveloped Distortion by bending it slightly to a Wave like water image. another thing i did was taking off the strokes by putting it to "0".

step 6

When all of these are done, i finally touch it up with a simple and bright background. i used the gradient tool to pick the most appropriate sky colour and used the Gradient Mesh to play around with the bright blue. i made it look as if there was a bright light behind it.

step 7

Finally, i duplicated the sky layer and reflected it in the opposite way. i also changed some parts of the Gradient Mesh of it.

first of all, ive done a few research about my selected area of global warming which is the melting of the polar ice caps. so for assignment 2, we're supposed to illustrate the key objects of our selected topic. and as for me, i have chosen to draw ice caps/glaciers. here are some of the photos i found on the net which i find to be very interesting, (:

This is my final work using illustrator. Once again, i would want to clearly state that my symbol is about the melting of the ice/glaciers.

step 1

The first thing i did was to copy a template of my original sketch and put it into the illustrator file. This way, it would be easier for me to draw my symbol.

step 2

Next, i use the pen tool to draw the outline for the fire. Its really tough honestly but i kind of got used to it after that.

step 3

After im done with the fire, i use the eclipse tool to draw the round part of the symbol which represents the ice/glacier. I also used the pen tool to draw the cracks and the water droplet.

step 4

Once im done with drawing the outlines, i start using the gradient tool to colour in the fire. I changed the colour on the gradient swatches based on the colours i needed.

step 5

After that, i used the gradient tool again to colour in the ice part and the droplets. Besides that i also used strokes for the outlines.

and tadaaaaaaa! a masterpiece was created! LOL!

hello again, (:

okay, so relating to the first assignment about the symbol based on global warming, i have done a few sketches and my main topic under global warming is the melting of glaciers. i chose this topic because i find it interesting and ive seen a few pictures of glaciers and how it has affected our world.

so these are the few symbol sketches ive done.

i have reasons why i draw it this way. basically the round shape to me potrays the glacier part of the earth. theres also a burning fire around that round shape. to me that signifies every aspect of global warming(such as:temperature rising) and how it has affected this little part of the earth which is the glacier. and the way you see it theres some cracks on that round shape, this from my point of view shows how it has caused damage to glaciers and the glaciers are starting to melt.

about the colours, the light blue and dark blue signifies the glacier. which is cold and icey. and the orange part of the somewhat burning fire signifies global warming like rising temperature. so in a way what im trying to show you is that many aspects of global warming has caused this tiny part of the world which is the glacier to have side effects that is, theyre melting as days go by.

hello everyone. my name is azlin shahida. basically im from seremban so im not familiar with kl and these complicated places. im initially from SMK Methodist (ACS), Seremban. those five years were the best years of my life. i will never give that up for anything. and if only i could have those years back, id kill a person. LOL. and i chose MMU, because my brother is here, so things are easier that way. my brother is in FCM too just so everybody knows. hes major is in ID and i dont know what mine will be. still figuring out wat im good at.

honestly speaking im not really good at art, being compared to the rest of us here im not even close to their standart of drawing. but i hope in a way ill learn something from all this. because the things i see in life are constantly involving art. friends to me is art. music is art. love is too. so my passion lies in art.

oh and another thing, i love ORIENTATION week! i could go on and on about how awesome it is. i loveeeeeeeeeee you OCs!
